I've always heard Pedro Morales wrestled here in Mid Atlantic around 1978 or 79 and was just used as mid-card talent at best. Anyone know why he wasn't a main eventer here? I know it's up to the promoter and booker as to how he's used but he was a former WWWF champion and received a good amount of coverage in a lot of wrestling magazines. I'd think some in this area would be familiar with him thru the mags and know he was a star elsewhere. He was used as main event talent while in Florida 1977-78... I was always curious about this. Thanks for any info.

Maybe the booker (George Scott I think at this time) felt with very little hispanic population in the area that Pedro wouldn't get nearly as over as he did in Florida or the WWWF.

Packer Killer, you 're partially correct. Although Morales had a good run with the WWWF in Florida and up north, he was nearing the end of a very successful career. But, he just wasn't the main event attraction in the Mid-Atlantic territory, as George Scott had hoped. He was a great guy (very friendly & unassuming), got a long well with the other wrestlers and had a good run, while he was with JCP. On a personal side note ...He was an easy interview on camera.

I think he could have been Television Champ for a short run or atleast challenged for it.
