Other may disagree, but I don't see Janetty leading a promotion. I still say the best bet was create someone.

My two cents but I thought Buddy Landel made a pretty good face after the turn.
Janetty was still a good to great worker but terrible on the stick and his demons were too much at this point.

If he's gonna create someone, the question still remains. Who?

well if he creates someone, I can't say who that would have been. He has to take an unknown or green worker and bring them up.
He needed a charismatic babyface from the south preferably - fairly young - who could play both a heel and face - that did not have the WWF or WCW/JCP/NWA tarnish on them.

Which exactly describes Brian Lee. Well, except for the "charismatic" part.
Seriously, there was no Hogan or Dusty or even Bret Hart out there on the loose and ready to be snapped up by a second tier regional promotion. And you can't make something out of nothing. JC did the best he could with what he had to work with.
Agreed, I think for what he had, brian lee and tracy smothers did their damned bests.

Unknown, as far as having everything save CHARISMA ... that's a BIG thing to miss.

He couldn't afford Jeff Jarrett.
Marty Jannetty is a horrible choice, you need your top baby to be dependable.
A few guys I think Jim could have at least brought in to see how they fit, and it was something i thought at the time was bringing in Tim Flowers out of British Columbia. During that time he got into really good shape and was a heckuva a worker and could talk. Plus he had the aura of being tough.
Dr. Luther would have made a great heel, who eventually would have been turned. A few others were Buddy Wayne and Thunder Warrior. Both were great at the time, and Buddy was cutting awesome heel promos.

Personally......I liked the Buddy Landel turn. Landel could still go in the ring, he was always pretty good on the stick.....and a guy admitting that he messed up his career because of the bottle, it was personal enough to hit home and get everyone's attention and on his side.
If Janetty could get his demons under control he would have still been upper card WWF.....and he had no mike skills.
Even before the drug related coma.....Terry Gordy was terrible on the mike and he just made a natural bully type heel.
So back to the what if's.......you turn Landel earlier as a stop gap and then you anoint some young talent that hasn't been ruined by McMahon or WCW as your future face.....knowing full well that sooner or later he'll jump to one of the big two. That's the problem with developing a young talent.....sooner or later he jumps and you start all over.
I think if not Landel....then a Landel like type, someone who probably will never get another call to the big two but is still young enough and good enough to build a promotion around....knowing full well it's probably a revolving door situation.
my two cents......

What if Cactus Jack could have gone to SMW in 1992-1993? He sure as hell wouldn't have been stuck in any horrible "Lost in Cleveland" storylines and he wouldn't have lost his f***ing ear! Bang bang!
