I broke in doing the TV for New Brand Wrestling. 1980, then Oct 82- May 84.
The Randy Rose used by Condello, who later became Jethro Hogg, was NOT Randy Alls from the south. Randy, a very nice fellow, was rudimentarily 'trained' after New Brand folded by the promoter Walter Shefchyk.
Marty Janetty was supposedly booked to wrestle Makhan Singh in May of 92 but did not show, and i am pretty sure MS did not do that WFWA card either.
Thanks for clarifying, Marty, I'll ultimately defer to you because you were part of the Winnipeg scene on the ground floor at the time, & I was just a casual fan in a small town catching WFWA when I could amongst a sea of wrestling programs on TV including Stampede, WWF, AWA, All-Star, International & JCP.
I seem to recall, however, that late in 86 UWF Wrestling appeared on Winnipeg TV, & Art Crews was a UWF wrestler. I remember thinking at the time that I had seen him on Winnipeg TV along with Savannah Jack plus Angel Of Death from Stampede, they were the three guys I was surprised to see in the UWF. If Crews didn't work Winnipeg, is it possible they showed highlights from Kansas City matches on the WFWA program? I definitely saw Crews on TV somewhere before the UWF. Maybe that's where I got it into my head that both Crews & Jannetty worked Winnipeg. Checking Marty's stats on Wrestling Data, I guess he was already in the AWA by the time Condello had TV, so maybe Brown showed tapes of old matches?
The Dot Dotkins YouTube channel has a handful of West Four 86 matches.
Although the Bruiser Brody-Bulldog Bob Brown match has been uploaded on YouTube already, I have a complete version with ring introductions and post-match interviews. I've taken the liberty of uploading the complete bout plus interviews to YouTube. This was easily West Four's crowning moment, and probably the best match I've seen from this promotion. Our very own George Schire and Mick Karch handle the commentary and interviews. Enjoy!
Mr 80's WB, I don't know who you are so please excuse this question, but where did you get a copy of the master tape with the camera rolling audio outside of the actual interviews? I am quite impressed.
No problem, Marty, I'm glad you asked. I acquired this footage from a guy who used to post here a lot named Charles Warburton. He has a ton of really rare wrestling footage, including at least two tapes with West Four footage from the summer and fall of 1986. I was honestly shocked that the Brody-Brown match on that tape was a master copy, as Warburton is a long way from Winnipeg (Staten Island, to be exact). I'm assuming he traded for that stuff way back in the 1980s, and whoever supplied him with that tape happened to have a master copy of the Brody-Brown match along with the audio rolling and post-match ring announcements. I'll have to ask him exactly how he acquired that footage, as I talk to him occasionally via e-mail.
Here are listings for the August 1986 footage I have. I plan to upload more on YouTube as time allows:

I have all the stuff on the first tape I think on VH still. That Faraci angle was an all-time terrible candidate, which is unfortunate because if Condello knew what he was doing he could have drawn money with Rick, who became a well known stunt coordinator in the film business. Dave Moreau (correct spelling) had gaudy tights that may have been Al Tomko hand-me downs. Pretty Boy Anson (corrected name) went on to become the Golden Shiek. I don't remember ever seeing the Vigilante let alone twice and so I am wondering if in fact that tape ever aired on TV.
That very well could be the case, WrestlingCulture. I'll know more once when receive the footage and have a chance to review it.
Thanks for that info, Marty. I did a search on Rick Faraci and an iMDB profile came up. That angle came off rather poorly, as he clearly didn't break some of those boards right away. The way Chris Markoff went in the ring and knocked out Faraci, it looked so nonchalant and anticlimactic. No brawl, no beatdown, just Markoff laying out Faraci and walking off like nothing happened. I shall post that angle soon, along with a funny interview where Ted Stevens walks through the woods to find Rick practicing his karate.
At last, I have uploaded the infamous Rick Faraci karate demo angle where he gets knocked out by Chris Markoff. Check out the interview following the angle where Ted Stevens walks through the woods to find Faraci practicing karate.
awesome stuff, it's like a lower budget version of late-era Tomko, with Faraci being Condello's own I-Ton. starting to develop this theory that Tomko essentially "Winnipegized" Vancouver wrestling aesthetics.
