I was never a huge fan of the Dream Team

Beefcake lacked wrestling talent and mic skills. Valentine was a solid wrestler, but was not very charismatic.

How about Beefcake and Adonis as the New East/West Connection?

They both played somewhat homosexual looking characters. I think they would have looked far more entertaining.

You could have kept Johnny V or Jimmy hart as manager.  alternatively Jesse Ventura may have been a good option to take over managing the team.

it also allows a more logical transition for Beefcake to turn face against Adonis

Thoughts please?

I think more than "homosexual-looking," both of their ring names were probably snatched from gay porn movies.  And Adonis' tuff leather look was straight out of Tom Of Finland or San Francisco bathhouses.  Adonis' character seemed actually more *legit gay* before he went "Adorable."

So, yeah, stick 'em together with Luscious Johnny as manager [make sure to keep Luscious in the name], & give them a run with the straps.  When they eventually lose, they can have a tiff & Beefcake can still do his barber face turn.  And Adonis can still "come out" as Adorable, claiming that Beefcake was holding himself back from being his true, inner self.

Although I'm not sure I would've wanted to sit through all the homophobic chants in the arenas.

Even having them feud against a couple of country boys like the Funks would have been interesting.

As I said on the other thread....the 1980s were a different and less enlightened time. Not sure how easy it would have been to get them over as faces. It took until 1996 to turn Goldust face. Even then they had to make it apparent his character was not really gay.
