Does anybody remember preliminary grappler Jim Dimitri, "The Wrestling Lawyer"? I seem to remember hearing a story where he fell on his head, either in the ring or outside of it, and was in la-la land when he got to his feet. Subsequently, he did 25 or 30 dropkicks in a row. Got to the room afterwards and had no recollection of the match. So, firstly, anybody remember Jim Dimitri? Secondly, anybody hear of him getting concussed and going dropkick crazy? I believe he was in AllStar from the mid-70's until the end of the decade.

I remember Jim Dimitry pretty well. When I first got to All Star he was used quite a bit on TV and occasionally at the PNE Gardens. Don't remember the concussion issue but I do remember Jim Dimitry. He always carried a brief case, I remember that too. I also remember Jim the Bear Gillespie who also worked as Jim Gillis.

I remeber both of them, Jim Dimitry was not a very big guy and had a big beard. All the kids in my neighbourhood used to call him the wreslting pretzel because it seemed like every match he got twisted up in some submission hold. He was introduced as the wrestling lawyer and he is a member of the Bar.

II can remember Wild Don Wayt's first appearance on All-Star (Saturday morning televishion show). He appliied the claw as his finisher and squeezed so hard, spit flew in all directions, mostly on poor Jim's face! All-Star Wrestling had a profound impact on me as a kid! The first live card I went to was at the PN\E Gardens in February, 1977. I can remember the feeling of anticipation as my dad and I lined up to buy tickets. I remember entering the building and the anticipation of seeing all the guys I had spent months watching on TV. The main event that night was the Black Avenger vs. Jimmy Snuka. I can still remember the finish...Jimmy climbed to the top rope for his splash. He spent a few seconds posing on the top rope for a great visual...then lept off. At the last second, the Avenger rolled out of the way! After what seemed like an eternity with both guys lying prone on the mat, the Avenger managed to drape an arm over Snuka to get the 3 count! I still have the program from that night. Speaking of which...I am looking to purchase programs from the Tomko era (1977 to 1980). They are generally called "Pacific Coast Wrestling". I am also looking for photos, newspaper clipping or other ephemera from these years. If you have any for sale, please let me know through this board. Thank you. I hope to post more of my memories from growing up with All-Star Wrestling.

Jim was quite a nice guy. I met him a couple of times. He also was a friend of Bruce Hart's and played the role of NWA Comissioner on Stampede Wrestling under the name Tyrone MacBeth during the early 1980's.

Was going through some stories on Slam.ca and found this piece on the Canadian Hall of Fame page. Some comments by Jim himself, included. The author is Daniel Wilson. Link below.
