Wasn't much to miss. He was another ex football player and broke in with Ron Simmons. Their training with Matsuda was covered via taped segments on the TV show. Remember the context of the time which was that Eddie was dead and gone, houses were falling, Crockett and McMahon were hiring all the stars, and I think their training was rushed. They got pushed right out of the gate. Dewey didn't last long in the business. Ron of course went on to a successful career, but I think he could have been better and done better if he had been broken in more gradually.
So long from the Sunshine State!

Dewey Forte disappeared from the promotion in the spring of 1987 when there was big turnover in the crew due to all the imports from JCP. I don't know of him wrestling anyplace else afterwards. If he did, it wasn't for long.

His training promos with Ron Simmons were on one of the Turnbuckle Memories DVDs. They were doing different exersices with one another. One thing I noticed during the video was Forte kept laughing when Matsuda hit him with a board.

Yeah--I was in Fla. for awhile when Dewey was getting a little push---yuk. The guy was really bad, just wasn't pro wrestling material. Talented workers like Bob Cook & Jerry Grey should of gotten a push before Forte. Bob, thought I'd give you a good "plug". You deserved & earned it!

Wasn't he the one with the infamous "I'll shoot you through" in a cage match, where he was supposed to come off the ropes, but instead was whipped, and just walked out of the cage?

Actually Pete, someone told him it was time for him to "go" in the Battle Royal and he just got up and left. Like he had to make a phone call or something. Trying times for the H of H with him! SOH.

Like he had to make a phone call or something. Trying times for the H of H with him! SOH. Oh yeah that was a funny one.I think it was in west palm beach. It was a cage match battle royal.Chris Champion an I were beating on Dewey in the corner an some one said OK Dewey its time to go.An he stopped selling the beating an walked out the cage door..Very funny stuff.... You're right Bob, that was in West Palm Beach. I stood there with my yap hanging open and could not believe what my eyes were seeing. Nice guy.......... just never cut out for the business. SOH. Ah good times..I wish there was a video of that match,it would be great to see.I think thats an even better story then the one of Lex Luger running from Brusier Brody in the cage match...well maybe not.

Did Dewey keep in contact with his wrestling contemporaries, or was he so disappointed in the business and his career that he severed all ties?

Another Dewey Forte story. Matsuda told him to show up for a card in Lakeland, and they would introduce him to the crowd. No one saw Dewey that night. A few days later, Matsuda asked him where he was Saturday night and Dewey told him was there sitting in the stands. He never told anyone though. SOH.
