What are your funniest moments in wrestling? It could be from the house show, from television, from an interview or even something you read in one of the Apter mags.

I'll go first: in a promo for an upcoming volkoff– monsoon match in October 76, Lou Albano was carrying on about how Gorilla Monsoon was "a big fat slob who cannot move or function properly". A weary Vince McMahon calmly interjected "the man is a well conditioned athlete". Lou responds: "HE'S WELL CONDITIONED WHERE? ON THE EYEBALLS?"

Here's two of mine....Absolutely loved the Magnificent Muraco squash match from '83 where he wrestled while eating a meatball sub, with Albano slipping on a runaway meatball at ringside. Secondly, the 1977 MSG promo with Vince Jr. interviews the reigning champ Superstar Graham. The look of utter disdain that McMahon gives Superstar Graham right after Graham's boast about running 19 miles a day and swimming across the Atlantic Ocean is priceless.

This Ladd ringside interview still cracks me up...how he really wanted Putski and Bobo Brazil in the hcp match...that Putski is strong, but strong only "under the arns". LOL

I always found Freddie Blassie to be the funniest of the three managers. The look of sincere concern on his face as he attempted to get George Steele to speak during promos in 1981 was priceless. Also in 1976 he made a great comment about an upcoming Executioners/Hansen v Strongbow/Whitewolf/Putski matchup: "when we get through with Ivan Putski, he can start wrestling with the midgets. Because he's not much bigger than they are anyway". It's amusing years later knowing that he legitimately hated Ivan behind the scenes.

I liked how both Joe Turco and Fred Blassie, when about to be introduced, would always have big smiles on their faces and start to wave at the fans....only to have their faces fall and switch from being happy to being shocked to being angry in just a couple seconds....then they started yelling and grumbling about the negative response.
The fact they did this every time they were introduced made it even funnier.

The Apter mags were really great sources of comedy. Inside Wrestling had a column each month where a bunch of wrestlers with answer one common question. One month the question was "what do you think can be done to improve the sport". Bruiser Brody had a very useful reply: "I think it's high time we did something to upgrade the quality of the fans. They must be really dense. They do not appreciate the talents of someone like myself, which shows they really don't know much about anything."

Great footage of the meatball incident! Ironically, Albano frequently called someone else (usually Monsoon or Calhoun) a fat slob.

I like when Hayes and Okerlund were hitting on Suzette the Federette on TNT in 1986. They were going ga ga over her.

When Backlund went against Ladd in MSG, WCBS-TV (Ch. 2) sent a camera crew, as they were doing an "expose" of the wrestling game that week on their daily newscasts..........Ch. 2's Jerry Izenberg asked Ladd as he came down from the ring if he was hiding something in his trunks during the match......Ladd came back immeditaely with a great line......He said, "Yes, Mr. TV Announcer, I have something in my pants, and so should you. Every man should have something in his pants.".......I also recall that WCBS-TV's renowned anchorperson (Jim Jensen) showed an obvious disapproving attitude toward pro wrestling whenever the subject would come up......Warner Wolf on the WCBS 11: 00 newscast would say, "There was wrestling tonight at the Garden. Let's go to the videotape", and with a soundtrack of comedy-type old-time movie music, they would show a few seconds of a match or two, and Mr. Wolf would joke around with tongue-in-cheek commentary.........
