I just got off the phone with the Cowboy, and things are not good. Bob sounds pretty bad.....weak, and confused. He had his first chemotherapy session last week. He did well for about 2 1/2 days, then it hit him! I know from our experience with my wife's cancer last year that chemo can make you REALLY SICK! That is what is taking place with Bob right now. He is in a LOT of pain as well, from the fluid buildup in his chest.
He asked me to send this info, as well as his apology that he didn't send a personal 'Thank You' as he had planned to do by way of computer. He is just too sick and confused to get the computer working right. He is embarrassed that he hasn't communicated his thanks for your prayers, and he wanted everyone to know that.
I encouraged him to talk again with his doc on Monday to try to help with this pain issue.They gave him morphine, and it just made him sicker, so he won't take that. Please continue prayers for Kelly.

Tell him not to worry about responding. I've been through this chemo thing and screwing around with computers is not high on the list of things to do today. He's going through a serious challenge and just needs to know we are with him and thinking about him. It is going to get tougher before it gets better. He'll just have to pull it out in the third fall when things look tough. Just like always.

As any bad guy back in the day knows full well, it is NEVER that easy to pin the Cowboy. He always powers out at the 2 1/2 count and makes the superman comeback. Cowboy's fans know the match is never over until the bell rings!

Spoke with Bob three days ago. The docs have cut his pain meds in half. It is working on his considerable pain, but he ls less 'drugged,' and is feeling some better. He sounds a little hyper, and it seems he is having a difficult time catching his breath. He will have his second chemo treatment on Friday, August 1st, and at that time the docs will give him the results of the scans done after his first chemo, to see what the results were.

Hello everyone, I want to thank God and everyone for all the help you are giving me through all your prayers, cards, and phone calls. It's hard to say how I'm doing, because if I say I'm doing fine or better, the next day I get worse and vice-versa. I do want to tell you all THAT I LOVE YOU. And that with the support I'm getting from all of you. I am going beat this thing. God Bless you all

During our phone conversation tonight, Bob said he is still feeling rough from his second chemo treatment last Friday, and having pain in parts of his body where there had been no pain previously. The doctors told him the CT scan showed that the chemo appears to be working on the cancer in his lung.
He will have another chemo session on August 22nd (every three weeks) and the will do a PET scan after that, which will show more than the CT scans reveal.
Please keep Kelly lifted up in prayer for healing.
