Cage Match
Dick the Bruiser & The Crusher v. Blackjack Lanza & Blackjack Mulligan with Bobby Heenan
Special Referee Jersey Joe Walcott
Some thoughts on the evening from Bob Luce.
"This is the all time cage classic."
"No cage match in the history of professional wrestling before or since has ever lived up to this."
"This thing was destined to be bloody, rough and tough and brother it lived up to all the advance billing."
"The wildest, roughest, toughest tag team match in a cage ever, ever, put on in the whole world."
"This was a vicious, vicious, rough match all the way."
"After this match was over I don't have to tell ya the mat just brought out all this bloodletting and the mat was just covered with crimson."
"The most classic confrontation in a cage that ever was."
"This is probably ... you'll never see a bloodier match in your life."
"The wildest, toughest, roughest cage match I've ever seen in the professional wrestling game."
"In tag team cage action you don't get this violent action, just constant."
"The wildest, most brutal cage match you'll ever see, in Chicago, I'm sure of it."

It was a shame this feud was never brought to the Twin Cities.

I remember seeing this on tv/ clips, and now have it on DVD. Too ba they did not have the techniques(for filimg cage mathces, etc) like they did even in the mid-80's. Still , it is good that we got//get to see it.
take care/not offense.

Was this the one where Heenan had the 102 degree fever and puked in the ring or was that the outdoor Chicago show in 1970?

I just saw this on You Tube and forgot the link, it is #99 I believe out of some wrestling series. This was a great match, but it could have been promoted alot better and not held on Labor Day weekend.

That is one heck of a souvenir!
Great night of wrestling.
This card held on a different night and maybe at Comiskey would have drawn a much bigger crowd.

Remember that in 1972, 15 bucks would be like 85 bucks today. The prices were way out of line for the time...too bad

Did you see the raincheck? If the card was weathered out on 9/1 it was scheduled to be held on 9/2, or the following night. How many times have you seen that on a wrestling ticket? Probably with it being Labor Day weekend there was nothing else scheduled, I wonder if the boys would have received any extra coin for staying over another night, and how many wouldn't have worked the card on Saturday night? The card was "subject to change"/
