There are some obvious ones such as Stu, Dynamite, John Foley, and Billy Robinson. Who else competed in Stampede and would be considered a hooker or shooter?

Stu was the master shooter of the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.

I would count Bad New Allen as a legit tough guy who could handle his own as well as Archie Gouldie based on strength and in shape alone. Also wasn't Athol Folley a legit shooter.

George Gordienko and Luther Lindsey need to be mentioned.

I would think anyone who came out of the Dungeon, or were named Hart could go into this list. I think Stu could've taken any of the boys apart one at a time or all at once, but other than Bad News and probably Dynamite I'm not sure there were many others that could.

Were Steve Blackman's credentials legit? If so he could be in the tough guy category.

I think Smith Hart claims he's a shooter, learned hooking and stretching from Stu, and that he was sometimes used as an enforcer

Should Dynamite even be considered a shooter? A jacked up bully with small man complex? Yes. Granted he did LEARN to shoot and wrestle with Ted Beatley and Billy Thatcher while he was training to become a pro, but I don't recall ever hearing about his legit wrestling skills beyond that point. Every story I've ever heard or read focuses on his ribs and bullying tactics from being juiced up crazy man. I never remember reading anyone say "don't try Dynamite in the ring, he will stretch you 6 ways to Sunday" like he's Billy Robinson or Lou Thesz. Does anyone have any stories about Stu getting his hooks in on Dynamite?

Dynamite was less a shooter than a boxer with legit punching power. He came from a family of boxers and laarned how to pack a mean punch. That makes him someone you wouldn't want to get into a street fight with, that does not make him a wrestling 'shooter'

Dynamite was tough in the way Johnny Valentine or Harley Race was tough.......you just didn't want any part of him in a fight because reverse was not a direction he knew, he would have just keep coming. I've never read anything about him being a shooter or hooker in the traditional sense of the word......just crazy tough and mean.
my two cents

Geoff Portz worked there and rumour has it that he could tie people in knots if he so desired. His son Garfield Portz (Scott McGhee) also worked in Stampede, and I wouldn't be surprised if he picked up a few pointers from his Dad,Incidently McGhee as Portz was very effective here as a cocky heel.Check Youtube.
