And they have been re-mastered in High Def and supposedly look brand new. It turns out the old Stampede shows were shot with movie cameras, 16mm film, making the footage higher quality and they have now bee re-mastered by the WWE to look perfect. From Observer.com:
Quote MessageA note on the Stampede Wrestling shows added to WWE Network this week: A number of people have been commenting on just how good they look. The shows were shot on film (presumably 16 millimeter) and it looks as if WWE has the original reels and got those re-scanned in HD instead of converting old transfers to standard definition video tape. That would mean that these are the first older wrestling shows available in HD. 16mm or better film is effectively higher resolution than HD, which is why old movies (as well as TV shows shot on film) look so stunning when released in HD for the first time.

Stampede has been pulled from the Network.
http://pwinsider.com...etwork.html?p=1
The four hours of Stampede Wrestling footage that had been added to the WWE Network last week has been removed from the Vault section of the WWE Network.
The belief among those I have spoken to is that there may have been a rights issue regarding the Stampede material featuring WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart. While WWE owns the Stampede library, Bret had the rights to his matches transferred to him personally prior to the passing of his parents, who would have owned the footage. Based on that, if WWE wanted to use that material, they would technically need to license it from Hart himself.

Unless the contract signed between WWE and the Hart family when WWE bought the Stampede library said the rights to Bret's matches were not part of the deal, WWE's rights to Bret's matches would be just as valid as Bret's rights. Both parties have their own copies of those matches and could use them as they please without needing the other's permission.

Obviously Bret disagrees with you. Bret has expressed discomfort in the past with widespread re-use of his old Stampede matches, because he was so young then and his look changed dramatically. He doesn't necessarily want people to see what a shrimp he was when he first started wrestling thats the most ridiculous thing ive read in a long time

He allowed RF Video to put them on his shoot interviews, and his WWE doc had lots of his Stampede footage.

Bret was smart to get the rights to his name and footage. Dwayne Johnson owns the rights to "The Rock" name and character so it's just good business, well maybe not for Vince.
