I was way, way back in the archives the other day, and SOH was telling a story about how Nick Bockwinkel got married and his reception was at Larry Hennigs bar. I went back and I cant find it now.

I wanted to bump the story because SOH said they were booked in Lacrosse WI the night of the reception, so to keep the party going they loaded up the van with beer and road tripped.

I thought it would be fun to see the results of the card that night, and see if anyone in attendance may have noticed the boys were unusually "happy"

Whats weird is that was a Monday. Who gets married on a Monday?Whats even more weird is that Nick didn't stay at his own
reception, as he wasn't even booked that night. I would love to find that old thread, I think the original thread was in 2004.

I know the wedding was at Larrys bar, and he was booked, so he would have had to leave. Also, a ride to Lacrosse, putting on the show, and the ride back would take the whole night.......what time did they get married, 10 in the morning?

Did you happen to attend the wedding and/or reception? And do you know the deal of why they got married on a Monday of all days? And why Nick left his own wedding reception to road trip to Lacrosse(where he wasn't even booked)?

This is an interesting and fascinating story for me on so many levels....

I wonder if Jersey Joe was at the wedding?

I looked at the results around Nicks wedding date, and it appeared he was booked 7/8/72(Saturday) in Minneapolis, and had Sunday off(A TV match with him aired, but was likely taped ahead of time) and Monday off. Then, he was booked the day after his wedding(Tuesday)

I believe Nick met his wife in 1970 when she was a Stewardess for Northwest Airlines (based in MPLS/ST.PAUL) and that Nick's decision to work for Verne had a lot to do with the fact that Nick and this lady were very much in love. As a result, Nick relocated to The Twin Cities.

This would have been Nick's second (and final) Marriage I believe...
