On July 4, 1983, at the Fort Worth Tarrant County Convention Center David Von Erich beat Jimmy Garvin to win the Texas Heavyweight title. On July 11, 1983, I noticed a match result, also in Fort Worth, where David Von Erich and Jimmy Garvin battled to a draw and the Texas Heavyweight title was held up.

My question is when and where did the rematch take place where David won his eight and final Texas title?? I know that the belt was vacated upon his passing and that a tournament took place in June 1984 (won by Gino Hernandez) for the belt.

I've not seen any matches from the second half of 1983 where David has the Texas belt, and double checking one match - 11/21/83 vs Buddy Roberts in Fort Worth - has him without the belt or any mention of the title. And by then Garvin had moved on to the feud with Chris Adams. If David won the title, I suspect it would have been at the end of 1983 or early 1984. Or perhaps they just kept it vacant until Gino won it in a tournament "resulting from David's death".

David & Jimmy had the title held up multiple times from May/June until July that year, 1983.. David won on July 4th (the valet for the day stipulation) and defended the Texas Title in a 2 out of 3 falls match against Terry Gordy on Labor Day in FW.. That, as I recall, was the match that Gordy debuted the Iron Spike.. David passed away in Feb., and the tournament was held in San Antonio where Gino won the belt in June of '84..
