That's right, PJ. Garvin first exposed Randy as Lanny's brother. About a year after that, he went after Angelo.

I caught ICW Wrestling on WSIL-TV 3 out of Harrisburg IL. When it first started airing, it was on Sunday afternoons. Keep in mind, this was before Poffo merged with the guys from Southeastern(Garvin, Orton, Roop, etc). The show was shot in a studio. This was also before John Beck was the announcer. At the time, Lanny held the ICW belt. About two weeks before defending the title on ICW TV against Savage(with Steve Cooper, aka The Prophet), Lanny was awarded a framed award. IIRC, Lanny told the audience that Randy was his COUSIN. Savage came out and shoved Lanny, and Lanny slapped him silly. After Lanny left, Savage took the award(that Lanny had left at ringside) and smashed it over his own head. You can see that clip on Youtube where Garvin exposes Randy as Lanny's brother.

As a kid, I thought it was weird that they went from being "cousins" to brothers.

Ronmark : any recollection as to who Lanny Poffo and Ron Garvin lost to in the TV tournament the ICW had in mid 1980? I 'm thinking Garvin lost to either Barry Orton when he was injected with the hypodermic needle or to the Best ; but I am not sure. I know the final 4 in the tournament were Bob Roop , Pez Whatley, Randy Savage ( he was given a bye as world champion) and the Best.
Cant recall Lanny losing in  the event or may have just missed that nights show.
Also so you ever recall seeing Eric Embry as Don Starr in those first shows that were filmed in the grey studio with Don Prewitt as anouncer and had Dale Mann also in the promotion? I know he was there in the 1979 shows in April May but I dont think they had the show on tv in Lexington at the time.

I know Embry worked the Elizabethtown - Georgetown shows in April 1979 as I have the ads for thoseon my site. I also know Embry was under the mask as Mr Wrestling oriiginally , then lost a mask vs mask vs The Miser at the arenas.Plus the early tv I had match included listings someone sent me and iirc Starr wrestled Randy Savage on the matches that were listed for the shows I stumbled upon.. Just looking for more info if anybody recalls those really early shows.

My bad I was talking about the Tv show. He might have been on it, I just don't remember him. I've seen the ,clippings with Don Starr, Rocky Lee and Danny Fargo  all from Dale's crew you might ,want to page Mike Dupre he was on those shows he knows more about those Georgetown days than anyone and has some cool photos from that time on is website. I just know Dale went back to running his crew and the Poffos ran there's . I remember seeing Don Starr at one of Dale's  shows and was blown away  by how good a promo guy he was. The next time I' saw him was on Memphis Tv .

Hey e,
I remember Garvin being injected by the needle in his match against Barry O. I know that Barry and Bob Jr. were both disqualified from the tournament after this. You might be right about the Best beating Garvin in the tournament. I think the Best pulled Garvin's tights or something.  Lanny was eliminated by Bob Orton Jr. via count out. Before their match, Orton carries a limp masked man into the studio. He announces he's going to reveal the identity of the Best. He pulls the mask off an unconcious Bob Roop. Lanny gets out of the ring and states that Roop isn't the mask. Orton slaps Lanny, who chases him into the ring. Lanny lays Orton out with 3 powerful dropkicks. Meanwhile, Izzy Slapowitz is outside kicking the unconcious Roop. Lanny sees this, jumps out of the ring and sheilds Roop with his own body. Thus, Lanny is counted out.

Don't remember Eric Embry as Don Starr in the old studio but recall the Starr Brothers as a jobber tag team in the newer studios.
