I am so glad I got to see him in his prime    people who have only seen him in the last 25 years really missed out

Fish7, when you say in his "prime", I know what you're talking about....during the late 1970s-early '80s, before he became set in a predictable routine (which is apparently what some fans like, but I think that's another topic for another thread). Flair was always a hard worker, who gave it his all (even in front of small crowds, in more recent years), but yeah, I really enjoyed his work when he was in his "prime", as you stated.

He was an aggressive heel. Hated him after he won the belt. His routine got old quick. Hated the way they booked him.

Was that because of the infrequency of shows?

I just finished the Backund book and he spoke highly of St. Louis, but did mention the spacing of shows and breadth of talent brought in as a result being really cool.

I tend to agree with this mindset, the St Louis I see of flair is nothing special, nothing he hadn't done all over the southeast, and yes he did get stale but he had the stroke.

The Flair in STL was spectacular and he had no stroke here.

Flair in the 80s was the man (I did not see him in the 70s as I was too young)

When Flair stepped out of his usual routine he was the best. I'll bet he didn't get thrown off of the top rope every match in St. Louis.

Was just watching a STL angle with Flair and Race just the other night. Great stuff. Much respect for Flair but I have always said Race and Brisco were better NWA champs!
