When did swc end it's run on usa? I thought i read awhile back the reason they were taken off the air because of an incident between scott casey droping horse manuer on bobby jaggers. Is this true?

Hey Vikings, the show which began in Dec 1982 ran until Sept 1983, many have thought that the Jaggers-Casey incident was the reason for the show being taken off but that is not true. Joe Blanchard was actually paying $7000 a week for Southwest to be shown on USA and he was behind on his payments, but they gave him some time because of the high ratings.

Vince came along offered USA money up front and just like that SCW was off the air.

I read that Tully gave out the main number for the USA Network on the air so fans could request their favorite matches. USA's switchboard blew out and Southwest was off the air pretty quickly afterwards.

The name on the marquee says wrestling.

It's a known fact that since Southwest had the highest ratings of any show on USA, they forgave Joe Blanchard for not making the payments for awhile. But then Vince came with all a lot of money and the rest is history.

It was Southwest Wrestling till Feb 1985, then it changed over to Lone Star Wrestling for a few months then to Texas All-Star till Oct-Nov 1986.

Loved it on USA.  I was watching a lot of Mid-South and World Class back then.  + reading about 4 mags a month.  Those were the days.

The best match I think is anything with the Sheepherders from Oct 83 and beyond, they were great heels.
