have a stack of paper on my desk about a foot high from going through the Star and Globe, much of which will never find a spot on the MLW.com sites so will start posting them here, will try for 1 a day but likely a few a week , from the 20's to the 80's, hope you enjoy
Today will kick it off with 2 from 1947 + 48 Whipper Watson and mentor Phil Lawson raising funds for the Y , and making a presentation on behalf of his home base , the East York Community Centre

1969 Lou Thesz returns to Toronto to become the Sheiks 12th and 13th consecutive wins, Thesz the 9th victim overall so far in the 5 year unbeaten streak Aug 24 and Sept 7
Thesz, would wrestle only one more bout for Tunney in Oct 69 after many years frequenting Toronto, next time he came back was on Cannons Varsity show that ran opposition in 1976, wonder what the story is behind that

I guess a Payday was better than nothing in Lou's case! But he certainly made it out to be otherwise in his book. He made it out like he would do anything but ,what happened above on these 2 cards. He stated many times Wrestling is the name and Wrestling is what were going to do! Or something close to that. And he gets tripped by Farouk and gets pinned

the 2 biggest Canadian stars team up and win the tag trophy June 25 1953, the 'Dream Team' would lose in Nov to Al & Tiny Mills with the largest attendance - 16k - since 1935, that mark wouldn't be broken again until 1971 Sheik - Singh - as per Garys TWH - Yearly Draw List

the headline would prove to be a look into the future as fans in 1983 would surely agree , this one is from Feb 22 1970 with Kiniski reffing a Sheik Layton bout, he did ref again 2 cards later with the Sheik again beating Layton

CH 8 was out of Wingham and it was a CBC affiliate at the time. That channel was unavailable in Toronto. I'm sure 1 of the shows we got in T.O. was broadcast on that channel. The '70's was great for TV wrestling here in T.O. as Stampede was also on from time to time. Cannon jumped from 79 to Global at some point. Wasn't Grand Prix on 79 as well? Those really were the good old days!

This is some of the coolest vintage wrestling stuff I have ever seen. As a lifelong newspaper guy, I truly enjoyed reading the results stories. Did these appear in the Globe & Mail? Were they written after-the-fact by someone in the promotion? At any rate, they were a lot of fun. Thanks so much for posting!

Most of these will be from the Star, the Globe was more straight reporting, only if the Star didn't have the results I would take it from the Globe, the best was Joe Perlove , he wrote in the 40's and 50's and is very entertaining to read, I will post some of his columns soon
The 70's they went more to a office submitted type where it just gives the recap but the older stuff you will see here is Star reporters , likely focused on other sports but sent to cover the wrestling also, sometimes less than enthralled as per the writing

I will send AC a page from '61 TV Guide I have and also from the last TV guide from the TElegram 1971. Yeah Ch 8 {black} 8 was a small station it showed All star out of BC with one of the greatest hosts ever Ron Morrier! Ch 8 (white) was out of Rochester and you could sometimes get that in the eastern end of Toronto with your bunny ears.
