I have a site that uses XMB and I would like to convert them.

I have a database that I would be willing to share if you are interested in trying to convert it.

Sure!

Can you make an SQL dump of the database tables and send me a link to where it is so that I can download it.

I am not sure how long it's going to take to do it tough.  I am working on the RC4 right now...

Sorry its taking so long..

Hopefully I will get the chance to dump it and seperate it from the other board that is being archived on the same database later on this week.

That's fine. Let me know when it's ready to download and I will make the converter as soon as I get to it.

I have looked at the XMB database and I can now tell you that it is possible that make a converter for it. I am working on a phpBB2 converter right now and will make one for XMB whenver I  am done with the phpBB2 one.

One major differneces will be that all the file attachements will not be stored in the database but in a directory as files. It's the way we are doing things with ICT.

I have some questions about XMB. I hope you can answer some of them Jack.

Form what I can see, there are 5 groups members. They are called status in the database. What are their permissions?
  • Banned
  • Member
  • Prison
  • Super Administrator
  • Super Moderator
I presume that the banned members are in the ban list and as soon as they show up their IP gets banned? The Prison group, is it just that they are not allowed to post anymore and that their profiles are locked?Super Admin get access to the moderation features and the AdminCP. And the Super Moderator just get access to the Moderation features...

Am I right in all of this?

Pretty close.

The only difference is that Prison members are confined to a singe forum and can only post in that forum versus a member being able to post in all forums.

In reference to post #8 (by Jack on 02-17-05 ) in this thread
For prison members, I will turn off their posting rights and also freeze their profiles. The banned members will be banned.

The Super Moderators will be Super Mods but for the moderators, you will need to make them moderators yourself. Our moderator settings are more flexible and cannot be converted.

The attachments are stored in the database on XMB and we do not so I will extract them and make files in the uploads directory.
