On Saturday August 25th 1984 in Harlindale Stadium in San Antonio, Texas, Joe Blanchard promoted probably the last big card in SCW history.

Here is the card: Winners are first

Bo Beck vs Rudy Gonzales

Chicky Starr vs Don White

Tony Falk vs Steve DuPree

Buzz Sawyer vs Juan Reynosa

Al Perez and Al Madril vs The Grapplers (Len Denton and Tony Anthony)

Manny Fernandez vs Voodoo Mulumba

Blackjack Mulligan vs Kevin Sullivan (a wild brawl)

Killer Brooks vs Jimmy Valiant (Southwest Title)

Evelyn Stevens vs Susie Green (Texas Death for the Texas Women's Title)

The Sheepherders vs Zambuie Express (A big-time WILD brawl)

Eric Embry vs A San Antonio D.J. ("Rick The Stick")

Fabulous Blonds (Eric Embry and Ken Timbs) vs Rock n Roll Express (Southwest Tag Titles)

MAIN EVENT
Carlos Colon vs Abdullah The Butcher

Now, do any of you Southwest experts remember this card and do you have any memories of it?

I do remember this card. Eric Embry was wrestling DJ Rick the Stick for charity. For every min. Rick lasted X amount of dollars would be donated to charity.  If memory serves correctly Embry won with a piledriver at about 2:30 into the match after chasing him around the ring.

I remember this one too.  Other than the dj match (who sold an injury to his neck after the match), the Sullivan/Mulligan match was the one I discussed in another posting.  Sullivan got dq'd for throwing a HUGE fireball in Mulligan's face (or entire upper body as I saw it.  The RnR Express match ended when Jonathan Boyd interfered for the Blondes and cost the the Express the match.  Butcher/Calon was interesting because Abdullah always destroyed anyone I had ever seen him wrestling until I saw this match.  I got very interested in Puerto Rico wrestling after that match.  Carlos Calon is a true legend to the sport.  I probably would have never known if it weren't for that match. Watching Jimmy Valient wrestle for the first time was too cool.  Manny Fernandez (my favorite at the time)  finished of Malumba by hitting him with his own bone (similar to the Moondogs bone but more voodooish).  The promos they had in the weeks leading up to the card were a sample tray of goodies with clips of matches from federations (put together video style) that I had dreamed of getting to see.  SWCW really knew how to promote new talent and their wrestling cards.  Unlike any other promotion from it's time.

Does anyone have any highlights from this event it was such an awsome card it started at about 8 P.M. did not end till about 1 A.M. it was the best card I ever witnessed in person. I will never forget the Sullivan-Mulligan match when Sullivan threw the fireball, the Zambuies-sheepherders cage match was pretty good. The woman's cage match between Evelyn Stevens-Susie Green was good (A woman's cage match, only Joe Blanchard), and of course Abby-Colon was too short because they were not in the ring too long less than 5 minutes.

I MUST CORRECT OU ON ONE THING...BO BECK DID NOT BEAT RUDY GONZALEZ, IT WAS THE OTHER WAY AROUND. BECK WAS ON HIS WAY OUT.

Hilarious, so they donated a whole $2 to charity?
