One of my small pleasure is to browse old newspapers , and it is possible to check out on Quebec archives old copies of La Presse as early as 1966.
For those who don't know La Presse is one of the most important newspaper in Miontreal, mostly devoted to hard news and rather conservative but still keeping a generalist and popular approach while staying away from any tabloid format or philosophy.
Still I was suprised that going through in old editions finding results and news about local wrestling.
So I thought I'd share them by translating them.right here, hope this is ok and you enjoy them.
-------------------------------------------------
First one taken from the edition of january the 11th 1967
They don't mention where the event took place or when but I'd guess it is probably monday the 9th at Centre Paul Sauvé
Edouard Carpentier and John Kostas defeated Maurice Vachon and Hans Schmidt in the 3rd fall in a 2 out of a 3 match. They were awarded the win after interference by Matt Gilmore
Manuel Cortez arrived back to Montreal by defeating West Hutching in little more than 3 minutes
Chicoutimi strongman Ben Côté defeated Tony Angelo after a 7 minute match thanks to a bearhug.
Matt Gilmore defeated Benny Lima
Terry and Ronnie Garvin defeated Gino Brito and Larry Raymond
The next day january the 12th there is a news item
That Carpentier and Cortes will face again next monday Schmidt in a tag team match but Vachon will be replaced by Gilmore as according to the newsclip there was a violent quarrel between Vachon and Schmidt after the previous event.
It is also mentionned that Vachon still has sights on a championship match against Schmidt.
Johnny Rougeau will be in action against a TBA and Maurice Lapointe weghing 230 pounds will face off Hank Pardi in a preliminary match.

From january the 13th
A news item announces that Rougeau will face a 560 (!) pound wrestler called Haystock Maldon.
Other matches are announced Ronnie Garvin will face Chris Beltas who is greek (!) and Terry Garvin will face off against Gino Brito who's being billed from Montreal
They do mention that Maldon has worked in Montreal a few times in the past and Rougeau is back from a short holliday in Florida.
For the record I write the names as they are written in the newspaper, if anybody can share more info about the workers mentionned they are more than welcome !
As I have no idea who this Beltas is supposed to be and not sure if Maldon is the one better known as Haystack Calhoun or another person ?

Thanks for the answer so far, have browsed up to the january the 18th edition , have yet to see the results of the monday card , stay tuned as I go further through this stuff..
They were in previous editions, news item that basically repeated what was said in previous articles, so I didn't bother translate them.
Must say I have to wonder if these weren't disguised advertisements as the tone of the articles without going overboard was rather complacently positive towards the company.

Found a news item related to wrestling in the january the 23rd edition titled Hans Schmidt will meet Manuel Cortez tonight.
Schmidt is quoted saying he will give Cortez a beating he'll remember and make him change his plans to challenge me for my title.
Meanwhile Cortez boasts that Schmidt is too confident I will make him revise his way of thinking. According to the article Cortez is unbeaten at Paul Sauvé and quite popular among the fans.
Among the other matches billed by Bob Langevin in this" well balanced "*card are Johnny Rougeau "who should have his hands full" with Matt Gilmore. Midgets Fuzzy Cupid Cowboy Cassiday, Jamaïca Kid and Cowboy Bradley will be in action.
In preliminaries Gino Brito will face Ronnie Garvin and Larry Raymond will go against Terry Garvin.
*Every card seems to be billed as well balanced

We have to wait on the edition of friday january the 27th to get the results of the card mentionned in the above post. Weirdly they mention the matches as happening yesterday (typo or the card took place thursday?) My guess would be they forgot to edit the text.
Cortez won against Schmidt in a two out of three affair. Cortez lost the first fall after 7 minutes , took the second fall after only two minutes. He was finally declared winner 8 minutes later as Schmidt was disqualified.
In the semi-final Jean Rougeau defeated Matt Gilmore after 13 minutes
In Midget action Cowboy Bradley and Fuzzy Cupid have beaten Jamaïca Kid and Jackie Cassidy
Finally in the prelims Gino Brito had the best of Ronnie Garvin and Larry Raymond did the same over Terry Garvin.

New wrestling item can be found on the edition of january the 30th just below an article about the then baseball commissioner William Eckert creating a comitee to check out about the possibility of making intra-league action and scheduling World Series action at night.
Wrestling wise we learn that Édouard Carpentier is back in town after working in Detroit and LA. He was according to the article undefeated during his travels He'll face in the card taking place tonight Tony Angelo in the semi-final.
We learn that we have a new champ as Maurice Vachon has defeated Hans Schnidt last week (Maybe someone could fill the blanks about where and when it actually happened if it did happen ? ) Capentier comments on the title change "Vachon is a more gifted athlete than Schmidt all I want is to challenge the new champion."
The final will involve the former champ Schmidt who will team up with Mat(sic) Gilmore to face the "scientific pair" of Johnny Rougeau and Manuel Cortez in what should be an "highly emotional match" Rougeau and Cortez claim they'll defeat their tough as nails rivals in two straight falls (Yeah right !)
Preliminary action will involve Gino Brito facing Yvon Racicot. Also on the card, tag team action with Maurice Lapointe and Ken Shelley who will go against the Garvins (Ronnie and Terry)

I have Vachone defeating Hans Schmidt in Chicoutimi on Tuesday, January 24, 1967. Whether that was the title switch I'm not sure.

Would fit into the timeframe , thanks for the input.
The edition of february the 2nd brings us the results of the card mentionned in my above post.
Rougeau and Cortez won a "spectacular" match as they took over their "rugged" opponents Matt Gilmore and Hans Schmidt , they earned the first fall via disqualification after 13 minutes of action, they were disqualified in the second fall they fan favourites got the decisive fall thanks to Rougeau who applied the Cobra Clutch to after 9 minute. (No mention of time for the second fall)
Édouard Carpentier defeated Tony Angelo after an affair lasting 11 minutes.
In the other matches Terry and Ronnie Garvin defeated Maurice Lapointe and Len Kelley while Cowboy Jones had the better of Yves Racicot.

Following wrestling item appears in the edition of february the 10th. My guess there wasn't any card in the previous week in Montreal as the previous monday Center Paul Sauvé was showing on closed circuit the fight between Mohammad Ali and Ernie Terrell . Rougeau was involved in the screening of the event so no lost for him money wise I would guess.
Titled Larry Moquin returns to wrestling it informs us that Johnny Rougeau and Édouard Carpentier will face in next monday's final the pair of Hans Schmidt and Sweet Daddy Siki Carpentier is quoted if we already know about Schmidt's reputation his partner doesn't mind breaking the rules either. Trust me, they will spend a not so good time with us.
Co-feature will involve Jacques Rougeau billed at 240 pounds who will meet "Scottish" Mat (sic) Gilmore. There seems to be a missing sentence as they mention a mysterious masked man without telling us how we should call him , anyhow he will meet the returning Larry Moquin.
Lastly Len Shelley will meet Ron (sic) Garvin and Larry Raymond will have to face Terry Garvin.
There is another item in the saturday's edition titled this time Rougeau and Carpentier reunited.. It doesn't add much to the previous day's edition. But it seems to let us believe that the idea of a mysterious masked man without a billing name seems to be done on purpose. The wording of the previous article was rather misleading.

From the edition of february the 14th we already got the results of the previous night Titled Schmidt and Siki are the winners. The above mentionned pair defeated Jean Rougeau and Édouard Carpentier. (Can't help but notice how the articles of the time had a hard time sticking to one name for characters, it's not just wrestling , Muhammad Ali can also be called Cassius Clay in the same paragraph) Details of the finals are the following. First fall saw Schmidt taking over Carpentier after 10 minutes, three minutes later the frenchman pinned Schmidt. Third and final fall was decided after 9 minutes thanks to Schmidt who prevailed over Rougeau.
Co-feature saw Jacques Rougeau and Matt Gilmore being both disqualified as neither man bothered following the referee 's instructions. Larry Moquin out of action the last year and a half defeated the masked wrestler. (weird gimmick and not much of a push either)
In the prelims Ronnie Garvin and Len Shelley match ended a draw and Terry Garvin defeated Larry Raymond.
By the way terrific news for those who enjoy this type of thread , they have started putting on line earlier editions of the newspaper and they seem to print wrestling news as well, browsing a 1962 edition of february the 14th for the sake of it, I actuall found this terrific news item.
Titled Johnny Rougeau willf face a formidable foe.
Rougeau will put his "world title " against the "fiery" Johnny Valentine from Seattle. tomorrow night as Eddie Quinn's wrestling cards are resuming at the Montreal Forum.
Rougeau quite popular intends to keep the title as long as the previous French Canadian title holder Yvon Robert. He also claims to be in great physical shape and is quite confident of defeating in a quick fashion Valentine.
In other action the famous Kangarous (They translated The Fabulous Kangaroos in French) will face another famous pair from Japan of Giant Baba and Yukio Sasuki.Robust Fred Atkins from Australia will face Cowboy Bob Ellis. Tom Johnes (sic) a football player will make his wrestling debut in Montreal against Doc Gallacher. (sic) and finally Red Lyons will be the opponent of Tom Coehagen from Ireland.
Meanwhile I'll resume 1967 but there will plenty to dig up for the future

Wrestling item from february the 16th is titled Rougeau wants payback. Rougeau went to the front office to ask Bob Langevin for a single match against Sweet Daddy Siki the man from Greenwich Village who defeated him last monday. The match was granted.
The some 2000 fans who witnessed the wrestling event that night saw Siki using illegal tactics in the main event. At some point Siki left his spot outside ring to hit Rougeau and his partner Hans Schmidt took advantage of the situation to pin the shaken up Rougeau.
We also learn that Manuel Cortez and Larry Moquin will form a pair on that card and face a team that has not been announced yet.

In the edition of february the 17th we finally learn the other matches of the following monday card . Moquin and Cortez will face the duo of Tony Angelo and Wes Hutching., The card will be completed Matt Gilmore facing Ronnie Garvin. Terry Garvin will face Gino Brito and finally Jacques Rougeau will take on Bulldog Cannon.
In kinda related news we learn on the same page that Jean Rougeau also promotes boxing cards at the same Paul Sauvé Center. A fight between Joey Durelle and Wilf Greaves will take place march the 14th will be promoted by him .
In the february the 18th edition besides announcing the card we learned that Édouard Carpentier has decided to wrestle in the USA because Maurice Vachon has refused to grant him a title shot. He is quoted Vachon has barely fought here since he defeated Schmidt, I sent him a challenge but he seems to avoid me. So I have decided to to accept a series of matches in the United States meanwhile. I'm still hoping to get a title shot when I'll be back in Montreal.
