I'm going to pick your brain a bit, do you remember a match in 1973 involving Mr saito against somebody named Johnny mann who had never wrestled before and who wore ballet slippers? The match only lasted a couple minutes... I was just reading a story in the December 1973 issue of big book of wrestling on their "so you want to be a wrestler" series, and it talked about this guy who read the article and took them up on the offer, and approached promoter Mike lebelle..? Any recollection of this? Seems like one of those pure fiction type stories, but they had a lot of details and there were indeed pictures of Mr saito Wrestling a guy wearing ballet slippers...

Sorry! I don't show a Johnny Mann even on the wrestling roster at the Olympic in 1973. That doesn't mean the match didn't place at another SoCal venue .

I show Saito appearing at the Olympic in Feb., Mar., Apr., May and June of 1973. I have no results for Wed., Feb. 7, 1973 or Wed., Apr. 4, 1973. That match could have taken place on one of those cards. I show Saito defeating a JOHNNY RAY on Wed., Apr. 18, 1973 but that's the closest I can come to JOHNNY MANN. That was Johnny Ray's only appearance at the Olympic and I have no recollection of Johnny Ray. So, maybe the wrestling magazine changed the name from RAY to Mann or got the name wrong.

I really wasn't attending wrestling very often  from 1972 thru 1974 as I was busy going to college, working and doing homework. I didn't have time for wrestling. Even Jerry had job where he didn't get off until 9:00 PM during that time period so I wasn't going to go to the Olympic by myself. Just too damn busy.

SORRY!

PS - I haven't been able to post many "long winded" stories lately because my computer is acting up. The fan isn't working too good and after 30 minutes or so it stops and hesitates and the computer gets hot. I have to turn it off and let it cool off for a couple of hours and start it up again and then go through the same crap again. I don't want to take it in right now because they'll have it for 2 weeks just to put a new fan in so I'm soaking as much use as I can in a limited amount time. I'd have to start backing up all my files because you never know what they'll do when it's in for repair. Eventually I'll take care of it but I can't right now because I'm right in the middle of working in another site for us old-time Sci-Fi, Monster & Horror movie fans from the 1930's, 40's, 50's & 60's. When I'm done with that project I'll take it in.

Hey Al as a big time fan of older SciFi and Horror movies may I ask the name of the group or page you are working on this project for?

My late girlfriend and I used to spend many a night curled up on the couch watching any older horror movies we could find. Is it a FaceBook group. If it is it is possible I am already a member of that group. Would be very interested to see what you are working on.

Thank you.

I only collect sci-fi/monster/horror flicks from the 1930's to the mid-1960's I don't usually like to bring up other subjects on this site because I don't want to rock the boat here or bringup  other subjects outside of wrestling.

I own about 600 movies right now but the "hunt" continues. One site is "Horror Movie Message Board" but it's complicated and you have to create an  account for many of the subjects and forums. I like working with the YouTube guys like GENIUS JOHN, ENDLESS PERCEPTION, MEMORY CRYPT OF CASTLE HILLS,  MY TOP 50's SCI-FI BY MICHAEL BARTLETT and MADD FICTIONAL MEDIA by JOHNNY BAARk. Check them out on You Tube. You can see what they're talking about and you can join in with your comments.

I have Johnny Mann facing Juan Rivas in Ventura on Feb. 5, 1973 and then losing to him in a rematch on Feb. 12 also in Ventura. Also losing to Mr. Saito in L.A. On April 18.
