As the 90s began did you see a Hogan vs. Warrior main event at WM 6?

2/5/90: A press conference was held in Toronto to officially announce SkyDome as the site of WrestleMania VI. During the press conference the following matches were publicly announced as being part of the card: WWF Champion Hulk Hogan vs. IC Champion the Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage & Sensational Sherri vs. Dusty Rhodes & Sapphire, Demolition vs. WWF Tag Team Champions Andre the Giant & Haku, Roddy Piper vs. Bad News Brown, Jake Roberts vs. Ted Dibiase for Million Dollar Belt, and Big Bossman vs. Akeem.

I didn't think they were going in that direction, honestly.  Warrior had lost the I-C Title to Rick Rude and it seemed like Warrior had lost a bit of steam.

But, when they did go in that direction it seemed like a HUGE deal.  But, they did not sustain the momentum.

We never saw Backlund vs Patterson in 1980, Backlund vs Morales in 1982, Hogan vs Santana in 1984.

Two main event babyfaces going head to head on April 1, 1990 is not what I saw coming in December 1989

Yeah, it seemed that the promotion had more avenues to go in during that earlier time.

Warrior was said to have been rivaling Hogan's merchandise sales in late 1989 so...

You knew by Survivor Series that Warrior was being positioned for the main event.  His team, not Hogan's. got to main event the show, and he was allowed to dominate his match while Hogan was made to look less than invincible in his match (three opponents got DQed after basically dominating him).  Looked like a changing of the guard was afoot.  Then the Rumble showed they were on even  terms in their head to head tease.

I could not tell at Survivor Series 89 that they were going to push a Warrior/Hogan main event at WM 6.

The whole face vs. face thing was definitely a change.  So, yeah, I didn't see it coming, like I said earlier.

I didn't see it coming either.

That being said Warrior was insanely popular at the time, the crowd was on fire at SummerSlam 89 for him. Entrance, match, celebration and just look in the crowd the amount of Warrior stuff.

That match completely overshadowed the main event. (Like Savage-Warrior at WM7).

No Holds Barred because he was bigger and badder than WWF Champion Hulk Hogan, Hogan was not a man but a woman, and that Zeus would destroy Hogan if he ever came face to face with him; featured Howard Finkel announcing that Summer Slam would take place at the Meadowlands on 8/28

Warrior got a huge pop when he regained the IC title that night.

Was there any indication on commentary that Warrior performed better than Hulkster at Survivor Series?

Survivor Series 89 Chicago, IL Rosemont Horizon November 23, 1989 (15,294)

team tried to make the save but were held back by ref, with Dibiase then calming Zeus down enough to leave the ring; Warlord pinned Ax at 9:51 with elbow drop after Fuji tripped Ax from floor; Barbarian pinned Smash at 13:44 with clothesline off top after Smash dropped Dibiase with a Hot Shot, not realizing Dibiase made a blind tag; Barbarian & Warlord were disqualified at 19:43 for dropping Hogan with spike piledriver as Roberts fought Dibiase on floor; Dibiase pinned Roberts at 23:52 with fist drop and putting his feet on ropes for leverage after Roberts hit the DDT on interfering Virgil; Hogan pinned Dibiase with boot to face and legdrop

IC Champion the Ultimate Warrior, Jim Neidhart, & Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty defeated Andre the Giant, Haku, Arn Anderson, & Bobby Heenan (sub. for Tully Blanchard) in elimination match at 20:28; following Neidhart, Michaels & Jannettys entrance, three were attacked by Andre until Warrior ran out to make save; Andre was counted-out at 0:26 after being knocked to floor by Warrior; Haku pinned Neidhart at 3:30 with kick to the back of head after Neidhart knocked Anderson to the floor; Heenan pinned Jannetty at 8:49 following several stomps and a kneedrop after Anderson & Haku double teamed Jannetty; Michaels pinned Haku at 12:51 with a crossbody off the top, with Warrior helping push him, after Haku missed a crossbody off the middle turnbuckle; Anderson pinned Michaels with spinebuster at 15:38; Warrior pinned Anderson at 18:18 with press slam and splash after Anderson collided with Heenan; Warrior pinned Heenan with shoulder block and splash; after bout, Warrior chased Heenan down aisle and knocked him down on his way backstage

What does this have to do with Warrior/Hogan? Seems off topic.
