Quoted from: spartan, September 28th, 2005 04:02 GMTWanna thank Abe for his help....got on the site easy and was able to read the entire story. Very well done. No problem, here's a little Internet hint for those who may not be aware http://www.bugmenot.com/
For websites that require registration (free not pay) you can type the web address ie www.texasmonthly.com at BugMeNot and you'll get a username and password. I use BugMeNot surprisingly often, it helps keep the advertisers off your back a little if you don't have to post registration info and saves time in not having to fill out longer registrations.

Here's another hint. Anyone thinking of using that article for future research should probably save it as you might not be able to access it in the future.
I use Firefox as a web browser and this is the only reason I have to occasionally use Internet Explorer. Go to the article and click File-Save As. You want the second box from the bottom Save As type click on the drop down menu and change it from Web page complete htm, html to Web Archive single file mht.
What that does is saves the page as one big file (that you can click on) instead of a directory and a whole bunch of little files (graphics and text).
You have to do that three times for each page of the article changing the name each time so you don't overwrite the previous page saved. I just put Pg1, Pg2, Pg3 on the end of the filename.
Again another one of those things that takes longer to explain than to do.

Excellent. I printed the article out and look forward to reading it. I still remember the day Gordon Solie announced on CWF that David had passed away. I could not believe it. For years I kept a little blurb that the Palm Beach Post had in their sports section on his death even mentioning his real last name.

WOW! What a great article. I just have one (probably stupid) question. Was "Playboy" Gary Hart (the guy described as "a barely reformed Chicago hood") the same Gary Hart that managed J-Tech in WCW?

The part about Mike leaving Chris his scuba gear with a bottle of placidyl "to take when he was ready to get out" blows my mind.

This, along with the whole, "last thing to cross Chris' mind was my thumb," etc... stuff doesn't get a lot of mileage, but this article was very telling. Perhaps the article itself was a little too real for "fans?" I don't know.
Yes, I would think a lot of fans were trying to live in an alternate reality. There seemed to be a lot of denial going on. That never solves any issues.
