While looking over one of the Studio wrestling picture annuals I noted a picture of Hans Mortier/Prof Tanaka and Red Berry and it got me thinking. .Mortier was one of my 60's WWWF favorites. Having watched him in MSG I was interested in seeing who is opponents were in the Pittsburgh area.Johnstown,Altoona and McKeesport. Pitt got to see him of course against Bruno but he also faced Watts and Brazil,Carpentier and tagging with "brother" Max.I realize it was his first WWWF run as Mortier ,any recollections from 50 years ago?.At the Garden I got the chance him against Carpientier and Ramos and a 3 man tag, though this was his 2nd MSG run.

Reading Steel Belt I was interested to seeing back in 61' there was an article mentioning the Crusher and promoter Eugene "Gene" Dargan promoter. I had a chance to meet his widow driving to the DeNucci luncheon at the Doubletree sponsored by the PWHoF before they moved to Bumfreekin Texas. Mrs Dargan at the time regaled Zoltan and me of stories of the old Pittsburgh wrestling scene and Gene's promoting of the Harlem Globetrotters. Remember when the programs had pictures of the promoters whether it be Gene,Mondt,Gilzenberg,Fabiani. Hell even the announcers and ringside doctors got their pictures included.
