steiners vs. Beverly bros
marty vs. shawn
boss man vs. bigelow
razor vs. bret

undeniably an amazing card then someone took a steaming royal rumble match on the floor. the actual royal rumble match was possibly the worst one in history as well as the yr after but wow so many scrubs were in this. backland should have won. honestly if yoko wasn't the size he was he wouldn't even have been a mid carder, then he takes the elbow from randy as the poor guy is being run out the company for being "too old" and from a laying position sh*t cans him over the top and doesn't sell it at all. most pathetic sh*t ive ever seen.

I thought the Rumble itself was just fine, though the star power was noticeably down from the previous year. Savage and Yokozuna worked pretty much a full-fledged match and a good one, though the ending was pretty stupid.

Until the 1-minute-interval disaster of '95, the worst Rumble was easily 1991. No notable action, a predictable finish (even if it was the correct one) and a bunch of mid-carders (Martel, Valentine, Tito, Herc) in there forever for no reason.

"If Yokozuna wasn't the size that he was, he wouldn't have been a mid-carder." You could say the same for Andre the Giant. But those are meaningless hypotheticals--Yokozuna *was* the size that he was, so let's evaluate him on what he actually did and not what he was like in an alternate universe.

93 was always one of my least favourite Rumbles, Apart from the early parts with Perfect, it is fairly dull.

91 isn't the best either but I'd prefer it as a whole. And at least 95 keeps going at a fast enough pace.

The best part about 93 is the debut of Giant Gonzalez. Don't forget he is 20 or 30 feet tall. LOL Heenan.

Was not a fan of the 1993 Royal Rumble. I remember thinking that it looked more a costume parade.

I was not enamored by Yokozuna either. He had only been a around 2-3 months and his push seemed a bit forced!  I'd rather have seen Hogan brought in as a "surprise" entrant and win, so he could have a showdown with Bret Hart!

Compared to 92 it's not a good Rumble but I enjoyed the bit with Flair and Perfect.

pogo, like I said the individual matches were 2nd to none I loved them all. steiners can do no wrong. marty and shawn, come on that's a gimme, boss man and bigelow the 2 most agile big men ever and bigelow being the best big man ever period and bret and razor 2 amazing workers. the matches were great but the actual 30 man royal rumble match was terrible. and pete I agree, if it was just andre and not andre "the giant" he wouldn't have been dog sh*t.

I liked the rumble match itself. Yeah it didn't have many big names but sometimes that is a plus since it makes the winner less predictable. It also had some good interactions and spots (Flair-Perfect, Taker-Gonzales, Earthquake-Typhoon, Earthquake-Yoko, the spot with everyone trying to eliminate Yoko, etc) and I liked the storyline with an older Backlund making it to the end. I think it is an underrated rumble.

Plus Heenan and Monsoon were gold on commentary throughout the match.

love the brain and heenan more than ne other announcing duo ever but they couldn't even save the rumble match. underrated would imply that its an actual gold nugget in a pile of turds and pretty much the one before and after were all better than this.

Royal Rumble match, best to worst ('88-'95)

1992
1990
1991
1994
1989
1993
1988
1995

1995 had the worst roster of any Royal Rumble. Ever. It looked like a freakin cartoon.. other than Bulldog & Michaels & Owen was anybody else even in that Rumble that ANYBODY thought could actually win it?

I'll be selling merch at the line to urinate on Cornette's grave...

Indeed, 95 had such an awful roster for its Rumble. They made the awful mistake of loading too many of their more recognizable people onto the undercard. Jarrett, Taker, IRS to name a few...even if they wouldn't be winning, they'd still be better than all the tag teams that were thrown in there. I don't mention Bret cause him fighting for the title at the Rumble hardly strikes me as out-of-place.

Speaking of Bret though...that Rumble was also not helped by two of the bigger names in there - Owen and Backlund - essentially being jobbed out to Bret's aftermath.

I think I remember 93's being one of the PPVs whose VHS I once rented sometime in the later 90s. There were like four, five, six or so that I remember renting to see during that time, cause oooh, these were the big shows and there was my chance to see them! Sadly I don't remember anything about the Rumble itself, at least not anything that can't be found in the posted stats. Would like to see it again, if only just once, since I'm a sucker for Rumble matches.
