Who did the most amusing promos in the kayfabe era?  No Cornette.  No Heenan.  Strictly grapplers and not mouthpieces.

I loved Muraco's promos. They always came from left field and were as entertaining as they were intense. As a kid, Brower's promos scared the crap out of me. I suppose they had some amusement value.

Jack Brisco...

Ok, maybe not Jack. How about Ric Flair Mid Atlantic/GCW versions of the late 70's/early 80's. Some good stuff with Atlas/Piper/Steamboat.

Amen, Patrick. There's a Moondog Mayne promo on Youtube that I loved so much, I included it on my MySpace page!

Many of Terry Funk's promos were funny.  Especially when he would run guys down and name call.  Of course, Buddy Rose was hilarious in the AWA.

Which one was that? Looking back at them now, you realize that Lonnie was pretty well "oiled" during quite a few of those promos (and I'm sure the matches as well) and that was often when he did the funniest ones. Some of his not-so-politically correct ones were the most hilarious.

Dick Murdock

Here is a paraphrase of one of his heel interviews

Announcer: Dick I suppose you're carrying this broom to tell me you're going to clean up wrestling here.

Dick: No I am carrying it because 90 percent of the women in this arena are going to need it for a ride home. LOOK AT THESE WOMEN ... well except maybe her .. she's too big to ride this broom.

Does Andy Kaufman count?

If not, Muraco is a good choice. George Steele (as a heel) where he'd just stare, glassy-eyed, and bob up and down, lloking like he was gonna say something but never doing so--that was pretty good.
