Harley Race was booked to lose the NWA world title, to Dusty Rhodes, in 1981 at the same time as the NWA champion would normally visit Calgary for the annual Exhibition and Stampede super card for Stampede Wrestling.
Nick Bockwinkle took the place of the NWA world champion, while the reigning AWA world champion, in Stampede Wrestling.
In 1984, the Masked Superstar was the "IWA" world champion and wrestled at that summer's Stampede super card.
Both Bockwinkle and the Masked Superstar would sport this championship belt while in Calgary - https://twitter.com/StomperGouldie/status/1294692161900826624

I don't thing that the belt Nick is wearing is a Stampede belt. Also the rest of the page of the program doesn't look like its from Stampede. The one smith heart has is the IWA World title

I'm confused... If bockwinkel was AWA world champion why wouldn't he be sporting the AWA belt that he always wore? Why would he have a different belt while in Stampede? When Champions travel to other territories, they always had their usual belt did they not?

He was booked as the worlds champion and used the AWA belt. The other belt didn't enter the picture until after Stampede created the IWA iirc Masked Superstar was the only holder. There was an over lap between using Bock and Stu pulling out of the NWA

There is a longer thread on @stompergpuldie about the two belts referred to by Butcher Boy. The belt Bockwinkle sports in the program photo turns out was unfinished. There is also an issue of Body Press posted on the Twitter account referring to Bockwinkle beating Harley Race for the IWA belt (Kayfabe). All of this due to Stampede Wrestling not having access to the NWA world champion because Harley was booked at the same time to lose to Dusty Rhodes. I don’t recall ever hearing the AWA being referred to when Bret Hart, David Schultz and Leo Burke faced Bockwinkle for the championship. Despite Nick showing the AWA belt on Stampede’s television programs.

Yeah, I understood the fact that whatever Champion was brought in whether it be race or bockwinkel that they would simply be referred to as the world's champion... What confused me is Bockwinkel actually sporting a different belt

Here’s Nick with the AWA world title belt while in Calgary -

Back in the early 60s Nick had a run with the Stampede International tag title - another nugget found by @stompergouldie who I understand is working on a book about that championship to go with his book on the North American heavyweight title.

Nick came a few times to Stampede as the World Heavyweight Champion. He carried the AWA belt but there was no mention of any league/association/alliance. The episode where he had the other belt he claimed it was the oldest championship belt and that he only brought it out now and then.
