I was watching a tape of Georgia Championship Wrestling from mid 1984. The match was Ron Garvin v Les Thornton, two of my favorites in Georgia at this time. What a match these two are having when JAKE ROBERTS comes into the ring and attacks Garvin! I was so pumped for this match. I turned it on before I left for work and time was running out for me so I stopped the tape pumped that I am going to be watching a great match when I got home. I turn on the tape and then BOOOM! that Snake hits the ring.
This was one of those matches that I hated screw job finish : (
I've got one of those half-faded mental images of Hart and Roberts watching a promo video that they thought was going to be about Jake, but ended up being about Ronnie. But the way my memory's been of late, there's a good chance I'm just making it all up.
Jake was being managed by Precious Paul, and they did do the promo video about Garvin. It was to John Cougar Mellencamp's "Walls Come Tumblin' Down".
