My Mom's family is from WV and, when I was in WV growing up, I looked for Three Rivers ads around Charleston and tried to find TV with no luck.
As a fantasy promoter on another board, now, I would be interested in a list of years active, faces and heels, character descriptions, towns and venues, TV info, and any websites that could help with Three Rivers.
I have read posts by SCW Count Grog and Ken Jugan on this board about Three Rivers and I would love to hear from them or anyone else.

Ken Jugan ran Three Rivers Wrestling from the late 1970's to mid 1980's he is the expert to pyull in. I can tell you some of the big stars, towns, feuds etc. but for the real deal its Jugan. I can say many of his guys worked the WWWF TV tapings in that time frame as enhancement talent. Guys like Jojo Andrews BB Coleman Cowboy Bob Brothers Bill Berger Bob Shaffer Ken Jugan (as himself not Lord Zoltan or actually Zoltan the Great at this time period)
also a very young Bobby Fulton really came into his own here

Also, Chief Don Red Cloud, Beefy La Pork, Ric Jenson, Smilin'Jimmy Watson, Me, Joe Cagle, Igor Koloff, and MORE!!! The Chief had the ring that made us all itch.We later found he used fiberglass insulation to pad the ring. It didn't both him, he didn't take bumps.

"Bad Bill" Coleman also wrestled in Buffalo/Cleveland in the early 70's and for the Willdman in Ontario in 1973 ( I saw him live tagged with the Bohemian Bull vs The McGuire Twins).
Around 1979 he was on George Cannon's Superstars of Wrestling.
Any thoughts on this guy? I thought he had a Terry Funk style. IIRC he ran a wrestling school with Johnny Powers.

Bobby Fulton, real name James Hines, had his first match ever in Clarksburg, WV for 3 Rivers Wrestling against Mad Dog Michaels, managed by Zoltan the Great. Mad Dog was really Joe Shedlock, who published a wrestling results newsletter from Greensburg, PA.

Whoah! Always cool to discover old outlaw & indie promotions. Many of the wrestlers I've never heard of, but Zoltan The Great worked southern Ontario a lot in the 80s. Some pretty interesting names I've never heard before, does anybody want to elaborate on these characters:
Dov Abrams - worked an "israeli death match"
Beefy La Pork
Fidel Castrol - a typo or a brand of Cuban motor oil?
Hungry Jack
The Red Cannibal
The Incredible Bulk
Wild Buck Slattery
Dizzy McShane

Dov was a small guy but had a great build and look.
Beefy La Pork and the incredible Bulk were the same guy - I think his name was Jim Hamilton out of Akron (was from Akron for sure)
Dizzy mcShane worked in the Carolinas indies I think as Dick Flair or something close to that.
Wild Buck Slattery was a huge guy surprised he never made it anywhere based on size, don't remember him being that bad in the ring.

Wild Buck Slattery seemed pretty decent to me. In the '80s, he appeared in Milwaukee for a while with Al "King Kong" Patterson's "Superstar of Wrestling." Patterson was an outlaw promoter here and used local guys (many of whom were AWA TV jobbers like Armando Rodrguez, Ben DeLeon, Cesar Pabon, Dick Reynolds, et al) along with names like Igor, Bulldog Brower, Randy Savage, Bob Orton, Art Thomas and a few others. He actually won a $100,000 judgement from the WWF over the use of the name "Superstars of Wrestling." But I remember seeing Slattery on the TV studio matches they taped and he was a big guy with experience.

Was there ever a "Golden Henry" that worked for Jugan in the late 70's early 80's. There is a guy still in the WV area working as "Just N' Kace" who proclaims to be the "Golden Henry", but I always figured it was some guy who happened to share the last name(Henry is his shoot surname). I've never asked Ken if this guy was all bull, but from the tall tells of working Santo in Mexico I only assume this man didn't exist.
BTW Grog love the WV results all of those town are in my backyard and getting info from Jugan isn't as easy as working the man lol. I am from Clarksburg and really wish there was more about this area "outlaw" history known. All I ever get is DeNucci & Jugan ran here, a smattering of towns and rarely any good info.

Okay, how about these workers from "North American Championship Wrestling" which ran shows in Fairmont, Kingwood, Clarksburg, WV & Woodsfield, Lancaster & Logan, OH, & likely other places in the region from 79ish to 86 [at least] following the apparent demise of Three Rivers Wrestling:
Carl Sugar
Bobby Gordon
Hoss Hogg
Mark Maddox
Boo Boo Henderson
the Funkadelics
Executioner & Superstar
D&D Wrecking Crew: Buddy Donovan & Conner Dunnegan
Jay Silvercloud
Red Cannibal
Mark McGee
Sonny Pride
Zar Zanio
Apache Lou
Rose Cassidy
Amy Monroe
Info from http://www.wrestling-titles.com/us/wv/nacw/ (Wrestling Titles.com). The above only represents workers in the title picture, meaning there were probably dozens of other wrestlers in the region in this time period, perhaps obscure local workers.
I recently started http://www.infinitecore.ca/superstar/index.php?threadid=83839 (this thread on Old School Hodge Podge about a promotion out of Beckley, WV that ran & was on TV from 1954-1977. ) It appears that perhaps Three Rivers rose quite literally out of the ashes of American International Wrestling. In a documentary about the promotion, it says they only went out of business when part of the TV station burned down. I guess there was probably an opening for a promotion in the region following the demise of AIW.
Anyway, if anybody else can share more about any of these promotions or workers, please do! b

West Virginia Wrestling out of Morgantown is listed in The Ring's Wrestling August 1983 issue, This may or may not be the same promotion as North American Championship Wrestling, it is in the same geographical area in the same time frame, but it still might be a different promotion.

Scans of pages and/or transcripts of results would rock.
Anybody know how to contact Ken Jugan & ask him to participate in this thread? It would be great to get a fleshed out history of Three Rivers & other small promotions in the region.
