Brooklyn, Asbury Park, and Totowa got WOR so they saw the heel turn on February 2. Not sure when Boston, Worcester, Pittsfield and Springfield (all in MA), New London, Binghamton, Harrisburg, and Albany got the heel turn on TV. I heard that Boston was one week behind NYC so they probably got it on February 9 same day as the count out loss to Hussein Arab.

Few different thoughts.
To Mass TV add WMUR Manchester, NH (an hour north, much closer than Springfield), and Providence…even closer.
The timing of tapes was more than a week off.  I remember the Denucci& Rivera/Barrett tag title issue being weird for at least two weeks, maybe three.  No clue which station was ahead.

On Zybysko being cheered in heel v. Heel match post Bruno…well if you think that was possible you don’t understand WWWF wrestling.

Except for maybe the Arion turn, never seen such pure hatred.

WWF fans liked to choose someone during a match to root for.. Even after the angle would fans cheer Bulldog Brower or Hussein Arab or the Samoans over Zbyszko ?
Imo
The office would send 10 wrestlers to a H.S. gym. One main event and 8 mostly jobbers. The main event would be following storyline to book a finish. The rest of the card did not matter.

Larrys heat was off the chart with Bruno. Not so much with other babyfaces. I expected good feuds with Garea and Strongbow and Putski after Bruno. Never materialized.

They were setting up a Pedro Morales vs. Larry Zbsyzko program in late 1980 when Pedro won the IC title. Larry told the promoter that Bruno never pinned him or made him submit so why would Pedro pin him or make him submit. That would make Bruno look weak. The promoter agreed.

Larry left Capitol Wrestling shortly after that bout

After earning a lot of money in 1980 (probably $27,000 for Shea, $9,000 for a Boston Garden show, and $9,000 for a Boston Garden show), he made only three appearances in WWWF in 1981

March 12, 1981
Dominic DeNucci defeats Larry Zbyszko by count out
Parsippany Hills HS Gym
Parsippany, NJ

February 7, 1981
WWF Intercontinental Champion Pedro Morales defeats Larry Zbyszko at 12:30
Boston Garden
Boston, MA

January 10, 1981
Tony Atlas defeats Larry Zbyszko by count out at 7:06
Philadelphia Spectrum
Philadelphia, PA

I debated that one.  Arion was the first turn I remember.  He absolutely
destroyed Strongbow, then beat up Bruno on the way to the back.

In 1980 The newer fans (+/-5 years) were seeing Strongbow on TV every week and main event secondary markets.  Bruno was off TV and only in major markets.  That took some of the edge off the heat outside of NYC/Pittsburgh.

Good debate though

Bruno vs Larry feud lasted 6 months
36,000 fans turned out to Shea Stadium to see the culmination of the feud where no title was involved.
Turns were so infrequently done that they all had merit.
Bruno vs Larry trumped the other turns by Valiant, Arion, and Maivia because the feud was personal. And the WWF title was secondary to their feud from March till September.
Imo

Teacher vs. Student

Bruno described Larry "like a brother" to viewers in 1980.

Backlund and his opponent took second fiddle to Bruno vs. Larry from early March 1980 - mid August 1980.

I believe that Houston match with Bruno against Graham was the one featured on the cover of the 1st wrestling magazine I ever bought. The headline proclaiming something along the lines of "Exclusive- Bruno needed illegal help to defeat Superstar Graham!" This was when Graham had packed on some weight around his middle, shaved his head and sported a long dark grey hillbilly type beard, yet he still wore the tie dyed tights.

I had that Apter wrestling magazine too.  I remember being amazed that Graham was completely bald and put on weight, lol.. In hindsight, IIRC, his weight gain was for competing in the World Strongest Man contest..

The Texas Death Match between Bruno Sammartino and Ken Patera that took place on March 8, 1980 at the Boston Garden was the Main Event for the very first live wrestling show that I ever attended. The fans in Boston that night were still reeling from Zbyszko’s attack on Sammartino a few weeks earlier and worried that Bruno wouldn’t be at his best. In fact, during the local promos leading up to the Boston Garden match, Vince McMahon—in his canary yellow blazer!—actually addressed this and asked Bruno if he was physically and mentally fit to compete against Ken Patera. In response, Bruno spoke passionately and assured the fans that what had happened with Larry Zbyszko wouldn’t stop him from beating Patera.

In any case, Sammartino finally began his highly-anticipated 3 month program with Zbyszko the following month at the Boston Garden, and I was lucky enough to attend the June 14th blow-off match—which was also a Texas Death Match. To this day, it was the best wrestling match I’ve ever seen live. The Garden was absolutely electric that night and the crowd cheered Bruno on with a religious fervor. Every person in that building wanted to see Bruno destroy Larry and get his revenge on the man who had betrayed him.

Larry says Bruno never pinned him - hence the cage matches

Hello Spoiler and BattleRoyal,

Let me offer a quick clarification: The Sammartino-Zbyszko Texas Death Match in Boston on June,14, 1980 did not end with a pinfall. After some exciting back and forth, Larry ended up on the receiving end of an aggressive beating from Sammartino. After this, Larry left the ring and went back to the dressing room. He was counted out by the referee and the match was awarded to Bruno.
