I think it was shortsighted to ban Bill Apter, etc from ringside at MSG. It's free publicity for the WWF. Who cares how people get into your product, great photos create interest.

Agree with you, Samoan #16. Think it was Bill Apter talking to VJM about being barred from taking photos at ringside.

It seems like 1983 VKM used VJM for conflict resolution.

VJM is the one who informed Bob Backlund on Wednesday, December 7, 1983 before localized promos that Sheik was going to beat him on Boxing Day. VKM told him that he would be getting the belt back.

I think the idea was that VKM saw the Apter mags as competition with his debuting WWF magazine and he wanted fans to only be able to see WWF wrestlers in one place his magazine.

Makes sense, Dan Shocket's Ghost. He had his own photographers who wanted to take photos for Victory Magazine, not Apter mags.

Believe when Bill Apter complained to VJM that VJM told him "You got to talk to Vinnie, Bill!"

Were photographers barred from ringside in all major arenas as well as access to dressing room interviews?
Were wrestlers barred from giving interviews?

How kafabe was Victory magazine ?

Great questions, Spoiler. I do not know.

I never bought an issue of Victory magazine prior to changing the title to WWF Magazine.

You think Apter's shitting bricks right now? Wait till it gets out that he let Vince attend the apartment wrestling photo shoots back in the 70s.

In Gary Michael Cappetta's book he talks a lot about the McMahons; however, I don't recall Bill Apter talking that much about the McMahons in his book. Might need to reread it.

Wasn't it Susan Sexton that roomed with Apter when he lived in an apartment in Queens?

I believe ringside photographers were banned from MSG starting in April of '83.
