Yes, Patera was part of that 1972 camp indeed. Oldfield went to MTSU outside of Nashvile and sparred with Ali back in the 70s.

In watching the video of the 1973 camp, you can see that Jim Mitchell's hand was missing fingers. I've never heard the story on how that occured. Jim later became a promoter of independent wrestling shows in Minnesota in the 90s.
Brian Oldfield had the personality to become a great heel if he would have made it in the business. The conditioning part of the camp shouldn't have been a problem for Brian so I'm not sure why he gave up.

IIRC, Jim Mitchell's missing fingers were a result of a birth defect.

I would be interested to know just how Iron Sheik was presented in that match?
He was obviously the babyface here. Was he just booked as an America loving, foreigner?
