Quoted from: Stephen Gennarelli, March 19th, 2024 15:34 GMT I don't think Cyndi Lauper was interested because so many of the guys she was close to, died so young.
Cyndi said in her book that she quit working with.WWE because Vince stiffed both her and Wendi Richter on their Wrestlemania pay. Richter only got paid half of what even the guys on the undercard got. Cyndi and her manager thought she was going to get a percentage of the closed circuit revenue in addition to her up front fee and that didn't happen either. Cyndi and Wendi both ended up quitting. Cyndi thought Vince was guilty of gender discrimination on the payroll and she was right. That's why she has refused induction, and other than inducting Wendi, hasn't wanted anything more to do with WWE. Maybe this changes now that Vince is gone

Yes, Darth Sidious. You are correct. Cyndi and Wendy were well underpaid for their WM 1 appearances.

Quoted from: jason1980s, March 18th, 2024 23:57 GMTTony Garea is one my father wondered why he's not in the hall. I'm surprised he wasn't inducted in one of the first three years. He may have been a bit younger than most of those guys though, but he was still a loyal WWF employee at the time.
Yeah, I have never understood what the holdup over inducting Tony was/is, the guy was an important midcard worker and stepping stone for over a decade and then worked behind the scenes for another decade. I was a big Garea fan growing up and I fully support his induction.

Totally agree on Garea
He was a mainstay in the WWWF in the 70s with great fan support and multi time tag champ.
The WWE would be better served allowing fans to vote who gets in the HOF..
Have a list of 10 or more prospects in each category and the top five are voted in with the ones not voted in on the list for the following year

I would imagine at this point if Tony is inducted it's a legacy induction after he passes. He's far removed from his time with WWE and would sadly probably get a "what?" chant from the jokers who don't know him.
He left WWE in 2014, according to Wikipedia, so there were about 10 or 11 chances they could have put him in.

I agree with your thoughts Darth and hopefully with Vince out of the picture there will be more deserving former Talent - Office to be inducted such as a Tony Garea, Ivan Koloff, etc. Vince must have had some kind of vendetta or issue over the decades with Ivan Koloff.
Thank You,

Did VKM breach an agreement on a set amount Lauper was to be paid?
Did Lauper quit or was released by WWF?

Doesnt sound like lauper was a diva or looked down her nose at wrestling like some celebs....she did a good job and brought a lot to the table. Deserved a lot more than 2500

Cyndi strikes me as someone who would have been involved for as long as possible if the money was right. She was a "fun' celebrity, she got it and played a great role. All the money Vince wasted on celebrities over the years who didn't even care about the product and made no attempt to know it and yet you have celebrities who really like it and he does little with them. Off the top of my head, you have Cyndi, Regis (who had lots of guys on his show but had one or two spots with WWF/E), Macaulay Culkin was in the audience at WM VIIII and they didn't even interview him. He was more famous than most, if not all, the other celebrities at that show.
It wouldn't surprise me if Bray got his own special induction at a later date, sort of like Andre.
I wonder if Tony had a falling out with Vince. He did retire at a normal age (68 I think) but it's just odd he hasn't been honored.
