The fan angle was taped at that same show in Wheeling.

Then it seems very strange that they would go through the needless exercise of taping a segment that Wasn't going to be televised

This is a total spitball but they may have wanted to make it clear to the live fans that this was the Canadian Earthquake and not "John from West Virginia" as he initially portrayed himself as, lest any other fan think they can get a ticket into the WWF out of the audience as he did.

Perfect vs. Tenta sounds very interesting. A shame no footage was released of that match.

Curt Hennig (RIP) hit the Fisherman's Suplex on The Giant on the September 29, 1997 WCW Monday Nitro.  I can imagine him hitting the move on Earthquake (RIP).   He wasn't known as a power wrestler, but, he definitely had that side to him.

Absolutely no way the WWF would have allowed that. Hell, Giant got heat in WCW for allowing Perfect and Scott Steiner to suplex him.

The execution of that fisherman's suplex was just as much on the Giant if not moreso than Hennig.

Agreed. There is no way Perfect attempted a perfect plex in this random dark match lol.

I remember Canadian Earthquake, but not Earthquake Evans.  Earthquake Evans would have been a great name for a wrestler in a territory.

I wouldn't be so sure guys, sometimes guys would try weird things in dark matches that they would never do for TV, I have no first hand knowledge one way or the other but if someone says they were there and he did it I wouldn't doubt it....
