In the Life and Legends of Harley Race Dark Side of Wrestling episode they discuss Harley confronting Hulk in KC and lighting the ring on fire. Found these results. Quite interesting.

That is strange that he waited so long...also the dichotomy of wrestling vs real life....in any other walk of life if you go to a building and assault someone because of a business dispute you would be in jail

This was the fourteenth time Titan Sports ran Kansas City over an 18 month period of time. Surprised Harley waited so long.

Harley was on a tour of Japan from late February 1986 until mid March 1986. He also appeared in KC after the altercation with Hogan.
Think this first date might not be accurate

3/27 Kansas City Harley Race beat Bob Brown
4/3 Kansas City Harley Race and Bob Brown battled to double DQ

You mean it's not true that Harley poured gas all over the ring and lit it on fire. What about Harley taking out his gun and pointing it right between Hogan's eyes. I guess I fell for another Hulkster fib!

I've heard Harley actually killed Hulkster that night (piledriver at :41 second mark of the confrontation). McMahon brought in another performer to take over the Hulk Hogan character. I think it was Van Hammer. Apparently Vince paid off everybody to keep it quiet. Which makes the story a little dubious. I can't see Mr. McMahon being involved with something like that.

Horrible attendance numbers for K.C. for the most part. That style of pro wrestling was nothing like what they had seen in Central States for years.

Van Hammer would have been an excellent replacement for Hogan since he was a great guitar player himself. Maybe not Metallica worthy but still pretty good.
Fortunately Harley was a smoker so he didn't have to ask to borrow a lighter when he lit the ring on fire. I wonder if the Kansas City Municipal Auditorium officials were able to get a hold of Dan Quisenberry to put this fire out. Once Vince found out that Harley was threatening his top dog he had no choice but to give him a job.
