I'm guessing it was Amarillo and I want to say it was either 1979 or 1977.

This was a TV studio match taped in Amarillo. Don't know the date, but it had to be in 1979, between January 9 (when Pogo and Sato won the tag belts) and April 10 (when Dibiase lost a loser-leaves-town match).

Narrowing it down a little further, I see that Grizzly Boone didn't arrive in the territory until February. The first date when Sato and Pogo held the belts and had Boone to back them was February 15. An old post on this board lists the match as having aired in San Jose, California on Saturday, March 24, 1979, to promote upcoming matches there. (And I believe that California broadcast is the source of the Youtube video, even though it has been posted elsewhere with slightly different dates.) The tapes would probably have been aired there with some slight lag for local broadcasts after taping on a Saturday morning at the KFDA-TV Channel 10 studio in Amarillo. Considering all these factors, the taping date had to be between February 17 and March 24, 1979.

The rest of the matches that aired on that broadcast were Merced Solis vs Dennis Stamp, Dick Murdoch vs Tank Patton, Blackjack Mulligan vs Ron Garfield and Dory Funk Jr. vs Stan Lane. The San Jose card that was being promoted was for Tuesday, April, 24th., 1979.

With no way to know for sure, the most likely date is March 24. Apart from Ron Garfield (who was in the territory), everyone on that episode was at the Sports Arena card on March 22.
"An old post on this board lists the match as having aired in San Jose, California on Saturday, March 24, 1979." Unless they were able to sent the show by satellite to California in 1979, this is likely incorrect.

Mid-Atlantic Gateway has records of Blackjack Mulligan beating Ron Garfield on April, 5th., 1979.
