Heard recently in a wrestling podcast that promoter Pedro Martinez had a reputation as a poor payoff guy. Anybody know if it was true or not?

What was the podcast?
To be fair, Pedro didn't do the payoffs, Lil Abner did. Pedro was the owner and promoter, who often spent more booking a card than it would make.

Longtime Martinez loyalist and road agent, Bill Osbourne. He worked one WWWF match in New Jersey in 1968, but primarily worked various Pedro promotions and appears to have retired when NWF went belly up.

First match I ever saw on TV as a kid near Buffalo featured L’ll Abner. Saw him beat somebody and I thought, I’ve got to watch this again next week.

I had the opportunity to meet Pedro when he attended the" Last night at the Aud/Remembering Illio/WCW event." After the matches WCW hosted a reception in the Aud's hospitality room.Besides a couple of WCW stars scattered about the room ,what was really memorable for me was sitting around the table talking with Kiniski,Waldo,Destroyer,Powers and Pedro and of course Bruno and Pugliese. While I knew of Pedro's promoting in Buffalo and Pitt at the time I was unaware of his MSG connection. Although I probably would have gotten the promoters perspective.Sadlly most of the legends from that night are all gone except for Gino Brito..Such fun memories
