Who was listed as the promoter in Pittsburgh during 1970 & 1971? Was it ever Phil Zacko? Who did Toots Mondt sell out to?. Did Bruno have a percentage of Pittsburg.. Thanks. --- Steve Yohe

I believe Bruno owned a certain percentage of the Pittsburgh territory in the late 60s and early to mid 70s

I believe Ace Freeman was the promoter in the Pittsburgh area, while Phil Zacko promoted in eastern Pennsylvania.

From what I read online, it looks like Bruno sold the promotion to Newt in '71.

Bepo and Geeto Mongol left the WWWF territory in Feb 71 taking the WWWF international tag team tiles with them. Kinda odd.
Maybe Bruno who lost the championship to Koloff a month before, sold the territory to Geeto at that time

In June 1969 Bruno was at the helm. In June 1969 the WFIA held their annual convention there. The banquet was held and all invited westlers failed to attend except for Killer Kowalski. Later it was learned Bruno forbade the wrestlers to attend to preserve Kayfabe. Needless to say bad feelings arose which led to dissolution of Pittsburgh area fan clubs. Besides the earned respect Kowalski garnered and trophy, it was the first time I saw Bruno in a negative light.OF course my initial bad feelings subsided and I've come to understand what Bruno was trying to do. Kowalski will always be remembered as a man of his word.

I can't fault Bruno for his action. The whole business was built on kafabe.
Fans seeing faces and heels mingling together just wasn't done. Today fans know it's entertainment, but back in 69 fans wanted to believe wrestling was sport.

If the WFIA convention had heels appearing on Saturday and faces appearing on Sunday that could have worked ..and kept kafabe

I can appreciate your reasoning but I will agree to disagree.
Promotors kept heels and faces in separate dressing rooms to give the appearance of what they were promoting was real. Nothing good would come from having wrestlers mixing or seated on the dias. It was a different era.
Other sports have rivalries but those sports results aren't based on rivalries ( or gimmicks ) and is team vs team.
Wrestling was one on one VJM did not promote "entertainment" but VKM does or did During the Morales years the tension in MSG was unreal. Fans believed.
If fans didn't believe the arenas would have been empty.
