Hogan beating Andre was a high point and a low point of his career.
When you beat Andre what do u do for an encore ?
The belt came off following year.
Regarding Andre. Should have returned to babyface right after WM3
It was easier to get a heel over by a tv appearance, add manager, maul a jobber.
But a babyface took time for fans to accept. Only one Andre

Forget about that. Andre received Main Event money for the following 30 months and was instrumental in launching SurvivorSeries and SummerSlam. The Main Event record audience, decent feuds with Duggan, Savage and Roberts, another Main Event feud with Warrior, Tag Team Champion... He turned face at the right time at the end. Another proof that when you are iconic enough even a clean loss on the biggest stage isn't the end of the world.
But in terms of Hogan beating Andre as a high point, the same thing happened in a sense to Warrior pinning Hogan clean on the biggest stage, you can't go higher than that...

Quoted from: Eater of the Dead, February 08th, 2024 20:40 GMTWould anyone in the late 70s and early 80s have imagined both backlund and Andre being squashed in seconds in MSG?
I wouldn't have imagined ever seeing them as heels.

Agree with Dan Shocket's Ghost. Hard to imagine Backlund or Andre as future heels back in the early 80s.

On the Kliq documentary they show never before seen footage of babyface and heel wrestlers congratulating Nash. It never aired during the 90's obviously but found it interesting that McMahon would have "breaking character" footage filmed for his own collection.

Did Hogan wear out his babyface welcome with fans and that's why he was turned heel ?
Or was it just shock value

WCW fans never really took to Hogan to begin with. There are early Nitros, particularly one from Macon where he wrestles a babyface match against Sting, where he's booed out of the building. Like, it's literally so loud that it's louder than his entrance music.
