Quoted from: DiSte, April 04th, 2021 15:52 GMTQuoted from: Pouchkine, February 09th, 2021 22:39 GMTSavage-Warrior was still a Career Ending Match so it was certainly possible in fans eyes, especially younger fans, that Savage could win this match on his own or with Sherri's help maybe and the two had never faced in a big match so it was a fresh and exciting matchup.
As soon as they had The Undertaker come out during the contract signing of the Career Ending match, you knew that the Warrior was going over, moving then to a feud with Taker.
Still, the match was incredible, I can say it went beyond anyone's greatest expectations, for the story they told in the ring. The post-match Savage-Liz reunion was for the ages, too.
Other than Valentine beating Garvin, I think a baby face always goes over in a career ending match.

On A&E WWE Sgt. Slaughter bio, McMahon "Yes Man" Bruce Prichard finally admitted the move to the Coliseum as also low ticket sales. It's nice to finally see WWE man up to their own BS. Previously it was "we couldn't get enough security for Bob" and then on the revisionist History of Wrestlemania DVD another one of McMahon's office stooges said "there was a terrible rain storm in Los Angeles that week."

Have not heard the terrible rain story
Ticket sales were low by early to mid February and they made the right decision

I remember in the Apter Mags they were hoping for Warrior-Hogan Wrestlemania VII. Not sure why McMahon didn't go for that instead. It no doubt would have sold the Coliseum out. Nothing against Sarge but I don't see Sarge selling out big stadiums unless he was in an upper card main event (Super Clash/Wrestlerock).

That's hilarious. Can't you count the number of rainouts the Dodgers have had since moving to L.A. on one hand? I think they've had more games postponed due to the '92 L.A. riots than they have for rain.
Not sure what prompted him to say that on DVD unless McMahon told him to say that.

Hogan-Warrior or Savage-Warrior was what fans wanted to see.
The Slaughter push was by far the worst booking of the Hulkamania era.
