Really good interview with Jeff and Barry interviewing the super underrated Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. I could have listened to him all day considering the long career he's had in the business.

My friend and I encountered him after an independent show in Baton Rouge around 1990. He was in side room, unlacing his boots. We asked him for an autograph, and he said, "I don't have time for an autograph, how about a handshake?" Still not sure how to feel about that one.

Maybe the cast he was wearing made it difficult to sign autographs, assuming that he was a lefty. Jim Brunzell often speaks very highly of Ace Cowboy Bob Orton. Said he had great timing in the ring and was extremely talented.

I don't believe he was wearing the cast at that point. Pretty sure he wasn't expecting anyone to walk in on him -- we were just two mischievous teens meddling around where we weren't supposed to. What we didn't know was that Orton had a son not much younger than us. Thinking about that now is what makes me surprised that he didn't sign.
