JYD won a Bunkhouse Stampede at Starrcade '88 as well.  I believe it was originally advertised for the PPV, but then ended up a dark match.

Saw the STL one in 1988 at the KIEL. First thing JYD did was toss a metal waste basket out of the ring. Im thinking please go back to the WWF. Of course that was after he walked past me on the way in and I said "Hey JYD, what's up?" and he said, "My weight."  Double heel turn

Kiel sat more than 9,000 so it was only half full. JYD put on a lot of weight during his time in WWF and more in WCW.

What other objects were in the ring aside from the metal waste basket at the start of the match, chrisstlouis?

Is it just me or was this overdone and overrated?  A series of Bunkhouse matches?  Sure.  A series of Bunkhouse Stampedes??  Also, hard to see the Bunkhouse Stampedes getting over much outside of the core territory.  Then again, Greensboro with 6000 in 1987 was probably not what they had envisioned.

What stands out to me is that after those initial shows, the attendance began dropping.  It didn't seem to take long for the novelty to wear off.  Just not a great idea to keep going at "the well", in my opinion.  The wrestlers were probably happy just to come out of those uninjured.  I respected Dusty, but his booking always seemed to be way overrated.
